FAITH FORMATION
"Faith is both a gift of God and an authentically human response - a recognition of God's call in one's life and a free decision to follow this call by accepting and living the truth of the Gospel. As such, faith is living and active, sharing many of the qualities of living things: it grows and develops over time; it learns from experience; it adapts to changing conditions while maintaining its essential identity; it goes through seasons, some apparently dormant, others fruitful, though wherever faith is present the Holy Spirit is at work in the life of the disciple." (Our Hearts Were Burning Within Us Page 50)

We are all called to see faith as a gift and to continue to nurture that faith through reflection, prayer, involvement in community life, and works of service. Our parish encourages its members to participate in parish educational opportunities, small faith sharing groups, and to take time as a household to talk about God.

It is our goal to reach out to parishioners of all ages.

WINGS - Women IN God's Spirit

What is Wings?

WINGS (Women IN God's Spirit) is a faith enrichment group formed to encourage its members to learn and grow in their catholic faith and to be aware of their own unique spiritual gifts. WINGS welcomes women of all ages from the Christian community who want to grow in their relationship with God and one another.

WINGS meets weekly during the school year and has three different seasons focusing on three areas of growth: The fall season explores Catholic tradition, the winter season involves study and sharing on Scripture and the spring season (Faith Focus) enables the women to discern ways of putting into practice their faith in their personal life, family life, community and the world.

Realizing that that God also speaks in the ongoing stories of people's lives, there are Small Sharing Groups that come together regularly at WINGS. A typical morning involves: a gathering prayer, paid speaker presentation, small group discussion, closing prayer.

Childcare provided for a nominal fee ($5.00 per family).

Spiritual Development Committee
meets once a month to plan programs to enhance the spiritual growth of all parishioners. A variety of programs are planned to take place throughout the year. From afternoon prayer retreats to full Parish Missions, from speaker series to book discussion, the committee tries to provide activities to enrich our spiritual lives. Contact Jean and Dick Horigan for more information at 781- 861 - 8052.

RCIA Team
. Known as the Rite of Christian Initiation, this program introduces people to the Catholic faith. The RCIA team works with those seeking to be part of the Church. At the Easter Vigil, these people are initiated into the Catholic faith. The three traditional rites of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist are all celebrated on this most solemn night. Please contact Anne Willhite at 781-863-0319 if you'd like to be part of the Team or if you're interested in being part of the Catholic Church.

Religious Education Grades 1 - 8
St Brigid Parish is committed to assist parents in the religious development of their children. Following the curriculum guidelines set by the Archdiocese of Boston, themes taught across the grades focus on Creation, Trinity, Church, Sacraments, Mary, Prayer, Morality, Liturgy, Scripture and Peace and Justice.

Our Religious Education Program begins the first week in October and runs weekly until April vacation. One-hour classes are held for Grades 1 - 6 on Tuesdays at 3:45 and 5:15 and on Wednesdays at 3:45. Grades 7 - 8 meets on Wednesdays at 5:30.

In addition to weekly classes, grade level liturgies, penance services, service projects, guest speakers, parent meetings, and other planned activities are an integral part of the program.

We welcome and encourage all parents to service in our program as catechists, substitutes, hall monitors, bakers, babysitters, office helpers, service project coordinators, musicians, artists, seamstress, or in anyway possible! Your service provides our students with a visible sign of God's love and presence.

Please contact George Begin at 781-862-8724 for additional information.

Confirmation Preparation
St Brigid's Confirmation program is open to high school age youth who have completed middle school religious education or attended a parochial school.

Our program's goal is to bring the religious education process, which began in the elementary years and deepened in the middle school years, to a maturity level of a
fully initiated Christian. An emphasis is placed on understanding the past, living the present, and planning for the future, as members of the Catholic Church.

Our Confirmation program is a two year commitment. Most youth enter as freshmen and are confirmed the fall of their junior year. Classes for freshmen and sophomores are held on alternate Monday evenings between the hours of 7:00 PM 8:30 PM in the school. As final preparation, juniors meet for several sessions to plan the liturgy, to prepare for their adult ministries, and to contemplate the upcoming sacrament.

The program is always in need of adults to help the students discover their faith. Please consider sharing your experiences with the youth of our parish, the future of our church.

For additional information, please contact Megan Chenaille at 781-863-0319.

Sodality
The purpose of St Brigid Sodality is to honor and praise Jesus through Mary. Women and men are eligible to join our membership

The Saint Brigid Sodality meets once per month from September to May -- usually on the third Wednesday of every month. (please see the parish calendar for exact dates.) A typical meeting begins with reciting the Rosary in the church at 7 pm followed by either Mass or a prayer service. Immediately following, a collation is held downstairs in Keilty Hall with refreshments, entertainment, and/or a guest speaker. Exposition and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament are also common to most of the monthly meetings.

During Lent, our monthly meetings move to the third Friday of the month as we lead the parish community in "Mary's Way of the Cross -- through the eyes of a Mother." This is one of the more popular and much anticipated events of the year.

Our primary fundraiser of the year is the Country Store which takes place at the November meeting and is open to all parishioners. Information is published in the parish bulletin. It is a fun evening and provides many laughs and souvenirs for all.
