LITURGICAL
MINISTRIES
The Christian family expresses its belief in and love of
God most effectively by gathering in communal prayer. As
the Constitution on the Liturgy states:
The Church earnestly desires that all
the faithful be led to that full, conscious, and active
participation in liturgical celebrations called for by
the very nature of the liturgy. Such participation by
the Christian people as 'a chosen race, a royal priesthood,
a holy nation, God's own people' is their right and duty
by reason of their baptism.
In response to this high call, we recognize our obligation
to offer liturgical celebrations which engage the community
in mind, body, heart, and spirit. We strive to accomplish
this through the active participation of many individuals
in a variety of liturgical ministries.
As a people of faith, we are called to serve our sisters
and brothers at liturgy through the various liturgical
ministries.

Children's Liturgy of the Word
Weekly during the school year at the 9:00am Mass, the children of the parish
are welcomed to participate in a liturgy of the word designed
especially for them - simplified readings, a child-friendly
psalm, a homily focused on teaching. Adult volunteers for
presider and shepherds (folks to guide the children up and
down the stairs) are always needed. Children volunteers to
read scripture and carry the banner are also needed. Contact
Sheilah Dreyer 781-863-5492 at for more information.

Altar Servers
As the highest form of prayer assistance to the priest in
these communal acts of worship, altar servers enhance the
beauty and solemnity of the prayer of the people of God. The
altar servers are recruited and trained at various times throughout
the years. Girls and boys in the fourth grade and up are welcomed
to join. Please contact Father Smith at 781-862-0335
for additional information.

Lectors The
lector ministry is a great opportunity to serve the St Brigid
community. Lectors experience a joy that comes through serving
the Lord and others. Lectors share the Word of God by proclaiming
the Scriptures at Mass. They serve God by communicating His
words to the parish community.
Lectors proclaim the first and second readings, and sometimes
the Prayers of the Faithful or Responsorial Psalm. Generally
each lector serves once or twice per month at a Mass on Sunday
or a Holy Day. Training and workbooks are provided. Lectors
usually gather annually as a group for an evening of reflection
or a refresher session. Contact Ann Ugolini at 781-862-5182 for
more information.

Eucharistic Ministers
The role of the Eucharistic Minister, like that of all liturgical
ministries, is more than simply a practical function. The
action of ministering the Eucharistic body and blood of Christ
is, above all, a service of love performed in faith for the
good of the community. The minister's action is an invitation
to share in the Eucharistic feast. We should be welcoming,
open, and affirming, each in our own way.
Eucharistic Ministers are generally scheduled for one Liturgy
every 2 weeks with training provided for new ministers as
needed. New ministers are always welcome! Please contact Jean
and Dick Horigan at 781-861-8052 for additional information.

Ushers As ministers
of hospitality, Ushers greet us and welcome us to God's House.
Ushers are responsible to collect the offering as well as
to assist worshippers as need arises throughout the Mass.
Contact the parish office at 781-862-0335 for additional information.

Sacristans
are needed before and after mass. Their responsibility is
to prepare the sanctuary, credence table, and sacristy for
a given liturgy. Sacristans insure that the altar, liturgical
objects, and books are ready before mass begins. After the
mass, Sacristans return liturgical objects to their proper
places. For additional information, please contact Marie Callahan
at 781-729-0111.

Linen Ladies
This group of parishioners shares the responsibility for keeping
the linens used during the celebration of the Mass clean and
pressed on a rotating basis. Linens are usually picked up
on a Saturday and returned before the next Saturday. Linens
can be retrieved when the Sacristy is open, preferably after
Mass. They can also be picked up by special arrangement with
the office. This group holds no meetings. Occasionally there
is a brunch to thank these dedicated people for their efforts.
New members are always welcome! For additional information,
please contact Marie Hill at 781-862-6456.

Music Ministries
"Among the many signs and symbols used by the Church
to celebrate its faith, music is of preeminent importance."
For more information about the many opportunities at St Brigid,
please look at the Music Ministry section. For additional
information, please contact Bill Grzybowski at 781-862-0335 or by email
at William Grzybowski.

Worship Committee
meets 5 - 6 times during the year. The committee provides
suggestions on how we worship at St Brigid and is responsible
for making sure the church is appropriately decorated to reflect
the major liturgical seasons: Advent, Christmas, Lent and
Easter. Many extra helpers are needed for special setup and
teardown at Lent, Holy Week, Pentecost, Advent, and Christmas.
